Blackburn Rovers have been one of the inform teams in the Championship over the last few weeks.
This has propelled them to within one point off the final play-off spot. They have been undefeated in the last five league matches, while teams above them like Watford and Ipswich Town have not been able to maintain the same form. One of the reasons for this much improved form has been the second half performance of the team. They have been rather poor in the first half, but Gary Bowyer has been able to inspire his team very well for a rousing second-half performance.
Midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe feels that the team will be able to challenge for the title if they managed to produce the second-half form throughout the 90 minutes. The 21-year-old, who has featured in 10 matches this season, says that the impressive fitness levels of the Blackburn players is one of the reasons for this improved showing in the second half. He says that very few teams in the Championship can maintain the same level of fitness. He reckons that Blackburn will be capable of producing a performance for 90 minutes or 100 minutes if needed.
The Championship will be exempted this weekend due to the international break and Blackburn will be taking on Leeds United upon the return. “We need to get a 90-minute performance from everyone. And if we start off as well as we finish games then I can’t see many teams beating us.I don’t know what it can be. We’re a very fit team so when other teams die out we can keep going for 90 or 100 minutes if need be. But we can’t keep coming in at half-time and leaving it until the second half,” said Tunnicliffe.Gestede has been their top scorer with 10 goals in the league.
